Opening a new account

If you are currently in unauthorised debt to a bank they have a legal right to claim any funds deposited into your account to offset the total debt. This can leave you without sufficient funds to pay for your essentials, such as living costs etc.

In order to avoid this you will need to make arrangements for wages, benefits or any other monetary deposits to be paid into a different bank account. We recognise that changing your banking arrangements can be a nuisance, but we can assist in this process through our many contacts in the banking industry. We can advise on the type of account to arrange and where you will have the best options available to you.

Where you have direct debits or standing orders set up on your current account to pay monthly bills, you will need to let the beneficiaries know of your new arrangements. Also you will need to advise your employer and/or the Benefits Agency of your new bank details so that any income can be directed to the new bank account without delays.
